Character Modeling - Sylvana

For this character, I wanted to add to making queer characters in my own work. Sylvana is an asexual and aromantic garden witch who runs away from her unsupportive family to focus on practicing her magic, something that is seen as "unclean" by her family who specializes in ice magic. She finds a mentor and settles down in her new life to focus on doing what makes her happy.
As an asexual and demi-romantic artist, I find myself very rarely represented in games, animation, and TV. I decided to make her a garden witch who bring plants to life, is extroverted and kind, and cares about the people in her life. I wanted to defy stereotypes of that depict asexual people as cold, unfeeling, and introverted. Green and purple are token colors for the asexual and aromantic community, so I wanted to heavily use them to hint towards her identity, as well as conveying earthy tones that bring across her garden witch identity.

I wanted to play with loose clothing and flowy garments, showing how she finds joy in pretty clothing and is also confident with herself. I created several silhouettes playing with different variations of loose skirts, cardigans, and jackets. I then selected 4 of my silhouettes to more acutely refine, and ended up settling on an asymmetrical skirt and loose cardigan. I used soft, rounded shapes to give her an approachable and organic silhouette.
